Neurodivergent clients are present across all stages of life and within every type of clinical practice. This virtual course, presented by Katy Lund, MSW, LICSW, provides therapists with a practical introduction to neuroaffirming care, helping participants better understand neurodivergence and how it may present across the lifespan. Through lecture and interactive activities, including sensory-based examples, participants will learn to identify common signs of neurodivergence, provide meaningful psychoeducation, and ethically support neurodivergent clients and their families. The training will also explore sensory overwhelm, loneliness, and isolation, as well as the impact of neurodivergence on relationships, marriage, and family roles. Learning Objectives: Describe the basics of neuroaffirming care. Understand the concept of neurodivergence. Identify symptoms of neurodivergence across the lifespan. Apply ethical, effective neuroaffirming strategies for supporting clients and their families across the lifespan. Manage loneliness and isolation for neurodivergent clients. About the Speaker: Katy Lund, MSW, LICSW is the Director of Autism Services at Secure Base Counseling Center and a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS). She brings extensive clinical experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and families across the lifespan.
