ABOUT THE EVENT

The body remembers what the mind forgets, and the body experiences what the mouth can’t relay.

Trauma can leave a lasting imprint on the mind, body, and nervous system. In this workshop, Dr. Lindsay Murn will guide participants through understanding trauma and its far-reaching impacts, emphasizing that hope and healing are not just possible but achievable.

Gone are the days of thinking that trauma is a life sentence or that a person who has experienced trauma will be in therapy forever.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Define trauma and identify different traumatic experiences.

  • Describe trauma's impact on the brain, body, and nervous system.

  • Apply guiding principles of trauma-informed care to clinical practice.

  • Navigate the stages of trauma recovery with tailored interventions.

  • Recognize and mitigate clinician burnout and vicarious trauma.

  • Demonstrate self-care and boundary-setting to promote professional well-being.

Attendees will gain 3 pre-approved CE hours, currently approved by the MN Board of Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, and Behavioral Health and Therapy for LPCs and LPCCs.

We need to do what we can individually, as a team, and as a profession to protect helpers from burnout, reinforcing a resilient, holistic approach to trauma care.
