Ethics, cultural humility, and trauma-informed care are the cornerstones of our work.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by ethical principles and how they interact with the ability to provide trauma-informed care? This training led by experienced trauma therapist Dr. Lindsay Murn, PhD, LP, CCTP, is foundational and essential for practitioners at every level, engaging in all facets of mental health work.
Join us live (via Zoom!) to gain confidence in mitigating risks of potential ethical pitfalls by expanding your toolbox with professional solutions and safeguards. Additionally, Lindsay will guide an exploration of the importance of cultural humility and its integration with trauma-informed, ethical care. Worried you won’t know how to apply this in practice? You will get hands-on experience with case studies to utilize the trauma-informed ethical decision making model, with live feedback and discussion!
Working with folks who have experienced and endured trauma brings unique challenges and possible ethical considerations to our work, this training will give you the confidence to immediately implement the critical base and framework needed to navigate these situations.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the 4 Rs and 6 principles of SAMHSA’s Trauma-Informed Care (TIC)
Identify at least two professional ethical codes that correspond directly to the TIC principles
Explain how cultural awareness and cultural humility underscore an ethical, trauma-informed approach
Apply a trauma-informed ethical decision-making model to a case example
Identify at least two professional ethical challenges and generate effective strategies to address them

About the Speaker:
Dr. Lindsay Murn is a Licensed Psychologist with nearly 18 years of clinical, assessment, and consulting experience spanning multiple settings. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Master Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Practitioner, Dr. Murn’s clinical specialties include treating acute, relational, and complex trauma, shame and self-worth concerns, interpersonal issues, life transitions, and work stress and professional burnout. In addition, Dr. Murn is dedicated to training the next generation of mental health professionals as a clinical supervisor and consultant.
Dr. Murn is passionate about providing dynamic, research-informed training experiences
that promote personal and professional growth for students, practitioners, educators,
and organizations. Her trainings are informative, experiential, and practical, with areas of
expertise including the neurobiology of trauma, trauma-informed care and interventions,
sexual violence, clinical supervision, self-compassion, and professional burnout.
Outside of clinical work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and pets, volleyball leagues, and designing stickers.
