ABOUT THE EVENT

Divorce is Difficult! Untangle the divorce process with a psychologist and family law attorney.

Navigating a client’s divorce can be challenging for therapists, requiring both legal awareness and ethical clarity. This seminar--co-presented by a psychologist, and a family law attorney and mediator--provides essential knowledge to help therapists effectively support clients through separation and divorce. Attendees will gain insight into the legal process, the roles of various professionals, and how to maintain ethical boundaries while assisting clients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the legal process for divorcing and separating families.

  • Identify the roles of different professionals involved in divorce and separation.

  • Distinguish between supporting and advocating for a client.

  • Recognize common misperceptions held by clients and therapists about divorce.

  • Learn how to guide clients through divorce without providing legal advice.
