ABOUT THE EVENT
When words aren't enough, the body often tells the story.
Join us as we learn from Erin Gonzalez, a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, as she bridges the gap between mental health and nutrition care. This seminar will enhance our knowledge and clinical skills by increasing our ability to recognize, assess, and effectively respond to eating disorders and disordered eating within the scope of our practice.
Participants of this seminar will develop a deeper understanding of the differences among eating disorder diagnoses, the complex factors that influence eating behaviors beyond body image concerns, and the role of trauma and nervous system functioning in symptom development and maintenance. We will learn to use a more comprehensive, trauma-informed case conceptualization and gain practical somatic strategies that can be integrated into treatment to support embodiment, emotional regulation, and client engagement. These skills will strengthen our ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary providers and administer more effective, holistic care for clients experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating.
Learning Objectives:
Identify key differences in presentation, severity, and treatment needs across eating disorder diagnoses.
Understand factors that influence food intake beyond body image concerns.
Understand how one’s nervous system can be expressed through eating disorder symptoms.
Describe the connection between trauma, eating disorders, and bodily sensations.
Implement somatic interventions during mealtimes that support embodiment and enhance the effectiveness of current treatment interventions.
