ABOUT THE EVENT
Do you feel daunted by the prospect of doing trauma therapy? Ever felt overwhelmed by clients' PTSD symptoms and not sure what to do? Or maybe you've experienced the effects of hearing about traumatic experiences in people's lives and wondered how you can maintain your wellness while doing this work. In this training with accomplished trauma therapist, Kadie Ausherbauer, PhD, LMFT, you will learn helpful information and strategies to make trauma therapy less mysterious and nurture your own capacity to maintain wellbeing while doing trauma therapy with clients.
In this workshop you will:
- Distinguish PTSD from non-PTSD reactions to adverse experiences
- Explore evidence-based treatments for PTSD
- Increase confidence in responsibly and directly addressing traumatic experiences
- Understand ethical considerations in preventing burnout and secondary/vicarious trauma and learn warning signs
- Develop strategies for treating PTSD in clients as a trauma survivor
- Learn approaches to maintaining wellbeing from a biopsychosocial-spiritual lens
- Engage in resilience-building exercises and practices
- Earn 4 pre-approved Ethics CE hours. Approved by the Minnesota Boards of Psychology, Social Work (CEP-2403), Marriage and Family Therapy (2024-200), and Behavioral Health and Therapy for LPCs and LPCCs (2024.CE.197).
Lunch Break: A 30-minute lunch break will be provided during the workshop. If you are attending in person there is a fridge where you could store your lunch and several fast food restaurants in the area if you would prefer (Culvers, Subway, Taco Bell, McDonalds).
About Kadie Ausherbauer:
Kadie Ausherbauer, an experienced mental health provider, has been dedicated to helping clients heal from traumatic experiences and PTSD since 2009. With a rich background in community-based, residential treatment, intensive in-home therapy, and outpatient clinics, Kadie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. She is trained in multiple trauma-focused therapeutic models, including the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, Trauma-Focused CBT, Trauma Systems Therapy, Seeking Safety, and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET). As a member of the U.S.-based training team for NET, Kadie has trained therapists across the U.S. and internationally. She holds a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a doctorate in Family Social Science with a minor in Prevention Science. Kadie sees herself as part of a global community of practitioners who are healing trauma in their communities and finds it immensely meaningful to support and inspire other therapists in beginning and sustaining the work of doing trauma therapy.
